Product type: On)verpakte reststroom huishoudelijk afval
Project type: Uitpakken Vermoezen
Description
In this project, the waste stream starts in the bunker, where it is fed via conveyor screws into the SMIMO120 depacker. The SMIMO120 is capable of processing various types of (un)packaged organic products and food waste streams.
The in-ground bunker allows trucks to reverse and unload directly into the bunker, speeding up the time for trucks to empty. The infeed bunker is equipped with three shaftless screws to prevent wrapping of packaging and also act as a preliminary mixer to create a homogeneous infeed for the SMIMO120 depackaging machine.
This processing facility accepts both commercial separated organics (SSO), including waste from restaurants and other businesses that generate food waste, as well as residential SSO through a Sunnyvale home collection program. The system is running at 18-20 tons per hour or more, up from previous capacity rates of 15 tons per hour, while recovering over 85 percent of the organics.
Depending on the requirements of the output product, this process can be customized by using different sieve fractions and post-treating the organic or plastic packaging stream. The machine is suitable for separating both dry and wet product and achieves a clean organic stream of at least 99.5% depending on the input. It is possible to add liquid to influence the composition and processing of the product.
After the product has been depackaged by the SMIMO120, the organic stream is pumped to a SMIMO15 pulper where the product is pulped to a very fine substance that can be further processed into other products. This pulp has many nutrients and is used for various applications, such as soil enriching compost, as an energy source for digesters to produce biogas and as an animal feed additive for pigs or poultry. In this specific project, the resulting organic slurry is sent to wastewater treatment plants.
